Background: CI Moshannon Valley is a private prison. It is owned and operated by the GEO Group. Since 2006 CI Moshannon Valley has provided correctional services on behalf of the Federal Bureau of Prisons (BOP). The facility achieved initial accreditation through the American Correctional Association in 2008 and re-accreditation in 2011 and 2014 with a score of 99.80%. The facility was also accredited by The Joint Commission (TJC) in 2008 and was re-accredited in 2017. Notable inmates include David Radler (sentenced to 29 months for mail fraud) and Kareem Serageldin (released in 2016 after serving 30 months for conspiracy to artificially inflate subprime mortgage bond prices).
Housing: Inmates are housed in dormitories.
Health Services: CI Moshannon Valley provides inmates with routine and emergency dental and health care. Inmates can obtain emergency health care 24 hours a day by approaching any staff member and requesting assistance. In order to obtain routine care, inmates must submit a sick call form and wait to be scheduled for an appointment.
