Background: USP Tucson is part of the Tucson Federal Correctional Complex (FCC). Its satellite camp provides labor for day-to-day operations of the federal prison complex. USP Tucson is a Sex Offender Management Program (SOMP) facility.

Housing: Inmates are housed in one and two-person cells. Inmates in the camp are housed in dormitories.

Health Services: Sick call, dental call, physical examinations, chronic care, medical and dental emergencies, medication, HIV testing, eye glasses, eyeglasses, are available to the inmate population. Emergency medical care is available 24 hours a day.

Psychology Services: USP Tucson offers screening, assessment, and treatment of mental health and drug abuse problems, individual and group counseling, psycho-educational classes, self-help and supportive services, and referral to Health Services for medical treatment of a mental illness. A Non-Residential Sex Offender Treatment Program (SOTP-NR) is also available, as is the Challenge Program for inmates who are prone to substance abuse, mental illness, and violence.

Residential Drug Abuse Program (RDAP): USP Tucson and the camp do not house a Residential Drug Abuse Program (RDAP), but referrals can be made to institutions which do provide RDAP. The facility does provide Drug Education classes and a Non-Residential Drug Abuse Program (NR-DAP).

Education Services: USP Tucson offers GED and English-as-a-Second Language (ESL). Inmates who do not possess a GED or high school diploma are required to attend educational programming. Inmate Performance Pay is regulated by the inmate’s level of education. Those not having a verified GED/High School Diploma are restricted to Grade 4 compensation for their inmate work assignment. INEA-Mexican High School Diploma Program students can have concurrent enrolment in GED literacy and in INEA-Mexican High School Diploma Program. The Mexican Consulate offers certificates in primary and secondary education through the Education Department. The Mexican curriculum is a voluntary program open to any student wishing to receive accreditation from the Mexican Government in either program. The Education Department offers a variety of re-entry classes to assist inmates in making a productive reintegration into society. High school diplomas and post-secondary programs are available through paid correspondence programs.

Advanced Occupational Education: USP Tucson and the camp provide advanced occupational education in Basic & Advanced Baking, Business Management, and ServSafe.

Vocational Training: USP Tucson does not offer any vocational training programs.

Apprenticeship: USP Tucson offers apprenticeships in Cooking, Custodial Maintenance, Electrician, HVAC, Plumbing, and Pastry Cook. The camp does not offer any apprenticeships.

Library: USP Tucson offers both a leisure and law library to inmates. The leisure library offers magazines, newspapers, fiction, nonfiction, and reference books. Inmates are provided access to legal materials and an opportunity to prepare legal documents through the use of the TRULINCS Electronic Law Library. A copying machine is available to reproduce materials needed for research. Electric typewriters are also available for inmate use.

UNICOR: USP Tucson does not house a UNICOR facility.

Commissary: Inmates may use funds in their account to purchase items at the institution commissary, place funds on their inmate phone account, purchase TRU-Units for their TRULINCS account, or send funds in another manner. The monthly spending limit is $360.00. Popular items include ice cream, sodas, candy, food, clothing, electronics, and shoes.

Recreation Services: USP Tucson provides a variety of leisure, wellness, and social programs to inmates. Leisure activities include organized and informal games, sports, physical fitness, table games, hobbycrafts, music programs, intramural activities, social and cultural organizations, and movies. Art activities include paintings and sketches rendered in any of the usual media (e.g., oils, pastels, crayons, pencils, inks, and charcoal). Hobbycraft activities include models, crochet, knitting, mini sticks, beading, origami, etc. Wellness programs include screening, assessments, goal setting, and fitness/nutrition prescriptions and counseling.
