Call for Manuscripts: PrisonEducation.com Launches Book Publishing Arm

It is with great pride that PrisonEducation.com announces its entry into the realm of book publishing.  Middle Street Publishing, PrisonEducation.com’s owner, is now entering the publishing industry with a focus on providing much-needed texts.  Middle Street Publishing, a South Carolina non-profit dedicated to social justice, is interested in publishing books that are needed, but might not be commercial blockbusters.  The point is to bring such books to the marketplace so that those who need them will have access to them.

The staff members of Middle Street Publishing are old hats when it comes to the book publishing industry.  With over ten published books to their staff’s credit (their own books, not published by MSP), hundreds of book reviews, hundreds of articles, scores of texts edited, and a number of successful book promotional campaigns under their belts, this is a group of talented book creation, marketing, and promotion professionals who know what it takes to make a successful book and market it effectively.  This group of experienced book industry professionals is now interested in publishing for the prison education and prison reform marketplaces.

The purpose behind the Middle Street Publishing/PrisonEducation.com book publishing venture is to find authors who have something important to say in the prison education and prison reform arenas and help them bring their work to the marketplace.  Their publishing strategy is simple:

  • Offer authors healthy contracts.
  • Produce quality books and e-books which surpass industry quality standards.
  • Market each and every text effectively to its target market.
  • Make a difference by fulfilling needs.

Currently, the Middle Street Publishing/PrisonEducation.com team is seeking non-fiction texts about prison education.  Through the Middle Street Publishing/PrisonLawBlog.com book publishing venture, books are also being sought concerning prison reform.  These can be reference texts, academic texts, how-to, personal experiences, and more.  The point is that the manuscript needs to be about prison education or prison reform, and it must fulfill a need.  Our primary target audiences are prisoners, prison educators, those in the legal and prison consulting professions, researchers, and prison staffers.

If you are the author of a manuscript and feel we would be interested in reviewing it, please submit a formal book proposal and the first three chapters of the text directly to me at the below address.  Due to correspondence restrictions inherent in all federal prison mailrooms, manuscripts and book proposals should be submitted via legal envelopes which weigh less than 16 ounces each.  Manuscripts will not be returned, but if the text is of interest, Middle Street Publishing staff will contact you to discuss terms.

I look forward to hearing from you, and Middle Street Publishing looks forward to publishing top-quality manuscripts which fulfill needs.
